The Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), as the National Productivity Organization (NPO), in cooperation with the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), will hold a benchmarking study entitled, “Enhancing the National Quality Infrastructure (NQI) for Productivity,” on 18 September 2020 via zoom meeting platform from 2:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Expected to be attended by local delegates from institutions that constitute the Philippine National Infrastructure, the event will be under the APO’s Bilateral Cooperation Between NPOs Program and will be hosted by the NPO of Vietnam represented by the Directorate for Standards, Metrology, and Quality.

The benchmarking study aims to gain insights on the journey of Vietnam in establishing their country’s NQI, learn from their strategies and experiences in mainstreaming NQI framework in the public and private sector, identify institutional mechanisms and resources needed in the effective implementation of NQI framework, and explore possible institutional partnership to help strengthen the existing NQI Framework of Vietnam and the Philippines.

The session will also highlight the NQI for Productivity in the country focusing primarily on the efforts and initiatives of the Department of Trade and Industry as one of the main advocates of the establishment of an NQI framework in the country.

As the mandated NPO of the country that acts as the focal institution carrying out the country’s commitments to the APO, the DAP sees the compelling benefit of having a quality infrastructure and would like to strengthen its advocacy to integrate and coordinate activities involving metrology, standardization, testing and accreditation, and certification.
