The Department of Tourism (DOT), in partnership with the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP)  and   the   Department  of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), launched the “Tourism Guidebook for Local Government Units” on July 09, 2015 at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria.

The guidebook provides concepts, methods, step-by-step processes and worksheets that will aid the LGUs  in  formulating  their  local  tourism  development  plans (TDPs).  It  also includes examples and supplemental readings on various tourism concepts and tourism planning.

The guidebook is a major output of the DOT-DILG Joint Memorandum Circular No. 2014:001: Adopting a Convergence  Program  on  Tourism  as  a  Vehicle  towards  Local  Economic  Development  to  assist and capacitate LGUs in tourism development planning.

The DOT, DILG, DAP, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Embassy of Canada through the Local  Governance Support Program for Local Economic Development (LGSP-LED) project and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) through the Biodiversity Partnership Project (BPP) joined forces to develop and produce the guidebook.
