Bureau of Internal Revenue Deputy Commissioner Estela Valdez-Sales highlighted the reforms that have been undertaken in the public service during the graduation ceremonies of the Middle Managers Class Batch 7 of the Public Management Development Program on November 7, 2015 at the DAP Conference Center in Tagaytay City.
Valdez-Sales, who was the graduation keynote speaker of the batch that also included some members of Batches 4, 5, and 6, said that such reforms are “necessary and doable,” and proudly declared that the BIR is now in a better position due to “strong leadership in the implementation of its mandates and of tax rules and regulations.”
The revenue agency’s deputy commissioner took pride in reporting “increased awareness” by the public regarding their responsibilities as taxpayers. This, she said, has resulted in a significant jump in voluntary compliance in income tax filing.
