The Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), through its Productivity and Development Center (PDC), provided technical assistance to the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) to facilitate the establishment of a QMS certifiable to ISO 9001:2015 standard.
PCW is among the beneficiary agencies of the Government Quality Management Program (GQMP), which was tasked under EO No. 605 to effect improvement in public sector performance by ensuring the consistency of products and services through quality
processes.
“One of the reasons PCW wanted to obtain ISO 9001:2015 QMS certification is to support the attainment of its vision to be the premier policy-making and oversight agency successfully influencing development efforts towards gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls,” said Ms. Rose May O. De Leon, DAP Project Manager.
The key officials, QMS Core Team and staff, underwent a series of trainings, workshops and technical guidance sessions from May until October 2019, prior to PCW commissioning SOCOTEC Certification Philippines, Inc. (SOCOTEC) for their QMS certification.
On December 11, 2019, SOCOTEC, noting zero nonconformity, recommended the immediate issuance of the certification of PCW’s QMS to ISO 9001:2015, covering the scope: Provision of Policy Development, Gender and Development (GAD) Plan and Budget, GAD Accomplishment Review and Endorsement/Acceptance, and GAD Technical Assistance.
Ms. Cecile B. Gutierrez, OIC Executive Director and the agency’s Quality Management Representative retorted that, “PCW’s QMS certification is just the beginning.
We will continue to build on the capacity of everyone in the agency for the continual improvement of our QMS.” – Angela C. Vargas (PDC-AIDO)
