The Foreign Service Institute (FSI) marked its 48th Anniversary and Recognition Ceremony on December 9, 2024, at the Philippine International Convention Center. The event celebrated nearly five decades of FSI’s impactful contributions to Philippine diplomacy and governance, and honored the individuals whose dedication has driven the institution’s success.

Delivering an inspiring message via video recording, Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) President and CEO, and FSI Board Member, Dr. Majah-Leah V. Ravago, highlighted the achievements of the Outstanding Employee Awardees, Career Development Incentive Awardees, and Loyalty Awardees. She commended their integrity, dedication, and commitment to excellence, which have strengthened FSI’s role as a cornerstone of Philippine foreign policy. Dr. Ravago reflected on the historic partnership between DAP and FSI, tracing back to the creation of the Career Foreign Service Development Program—a foundational initiative conceptualized by the DAP to elevate the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ capabilities.

Representing DAP at the event, Armand Tristan R. Suratos, Head and Liaison of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) DAP Secretariat, participated in the ceremony and joined FSI leaders in presenting the awards.

Key personalities in attendance included:

  • FSI Director General Francisco Noel R. Fernandez III
  • FSI Executive Director Lolita B. Capco
  • FSI Deputy Director General Dr. Marichu C. Liwanag
  • Director of Carlos P. Romulo School of Diplomacy Evelyn O. Katigbak
  • Prof. Renato de Castro, International Studies Department, De La Salle University

A highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of FSI’s outstanding employees, whose dedication and integrity were celebrated through the awarding of the Outstanding Employee Awards, Career Development Incentive Awards, and Loyalty Awards. The awards were presented by DG Fernandez, ED Capco, DDG Liwanag, and Mr. Suratos.

This milestone event underscored FSI’s enduring legacy of excellence and its partnership with DAP in championing transformative initiatives in diplomacy and governance. Together, FSI and DAP reaffirm their shared commitment to navigating the complexities of global affairs and fostering meaningful progress for the nation.

Let us celebrate FSI’s achievements and its collaboration with DAP in advancing excellence in governance and diplomacy!
