Tagaytay City, Philippines – The Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), through its Center for Governance, recently conducted the Legislative Training Course on MS Excel for Data Management. The three-day course, held on May 28-31, 2024, emphasized the fundamental concepts, principles, and the crucial role of data management in the public sector. It focused on utilizing basic and intermediate MS Excel tools for presenting data in legislative work. The course was attended by 35 emerging leaders.
Maria Fe Abalos and Kristine Agape Javier from the Philippine Statistics Authority led the discussions on the importance of data management and visualization in the public sector. They highlighted how to leverage MS Excel’s basic and intermediate functions for data management and its seamless integration into the scholars’ workflow.
The course featured hands-on activities, where scholars practiced converting data into usable formats using data munging steps and MS Excel formulas. They were tasked with performing basic and intermediate MS Excel tasks, such as sorting raw data and utilizing tools such as Statistical Modeling, Forecasting, and Pivot Tables.
The final course under Legislative Training Courses for Emerging Leaders on Policy Analysis is scheduled for the last week of June 2024. (Benette Mendoza)
