Tagaytay City, Philippines—The Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), as the focal and implementing organization of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Center of Excellence on Public-Sector Productivity (COE-PSP), successfully conducted the pilot run of the Unlocking Practical AI for Improved Public Service Delivery training program on June 16- 20, 2025, at the DAP Conference Center in Tagaytay City.
Designed to equip public sector professionals with practical knowledge and tools to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) for greater efficiency and innovation, the course features a three-phase hybrid format. The pilot began with a five-day in-person learning session, consisting of expert-led lectures, interactive activities, and hands-on workshops. The sessions aimed to build foundational competencies and apply AI solutions to enhance the DAP’s internal operations and program delivery.
The training enabled participants to explore how AI can be strategically integrated into the Academy’s various functions—from capability development and research, to knowledge management, technical assistance, and core services administrative, finance, and human resources.
Elmer Peramo and Engr. Aunhel John Adoptante, Science Research Specialists from the Department of Science and Technology-Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST-ASTI), served as resource persons. They provided a comprehensive overview of AI concepts and facilitated workshops that helped participants design, plan, and pilot AI-enabled initiatives tailored to DAP’s operational and developmental priorities.
The Unlocking Practical AI for Improved Public Service Delivery training program is set to be rolled out to other government agencies, as part of DAP’s broader commitment to enhancing public service delivery and improving public-sector productivity through emerging technologies.
