The Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) takes a significant step in supporting the welfare of its working mothers by officially launching a Lactation Station at its Pasig office. This initiative aligns with the provisions of Republic Act No. 10028, also known as the “Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act of 2009,” which mandates the establishment of lactation stations in all health and non-health facilities, establishments, or institutions.
Under this law, nursing employees are entitled to additional compensable time-off to breastfeed or express milk, emphasizing the importance of supporting breastfeeding mothers in the workplace.
The newly inaugurated Lactation Station in DAP-Pasig is open to both employees and external clients. Located beside the DAP Clinic, it provides a comfortable and private space for up to two mothers simultaneously. Furnished with cozy chairs, tables, a handwashing station, and a refrigerator for breastmilk storage, the station ensures convenience and hygiene for nursing mothers. Moreover, electrical outlets are available within the rooms to accommodate breast pumps.
By providing this essential facility, the Academy aims to alleviate the concerns of working mothers and promote a supportive environment conducive to both professional productivity and maternal well-being.
