The Development Academy of the Philippines, through its Graduate School of Public and Development Management (DAP-GSPDM), participated in the 2025 Philippine Association of Extension Program Implementors (PAEPI) International Extension Congress, held from June 10 to 13, 2025, in Del Carmen, Siargao.
Gathering implementors and practitioners from over 100 state universities and colleges (SUCs) and higher education institutions (HEIs), the Congress provided a platform for the exchange of transformative ideas and discussions on extension strategies.
DAP-GSPDM Dean Dr. Lizan E. Perante-Calina delivered a comprehensive presentation titled “Futures Thinking in Extension: Fostering Resilient Communities in a Changing World.” She underscored the importance of embedding strategic foresight in science and technology-driven extension programs to address complex challenges confronting communities in an increasingly dynamic and interconnected global landscape.
In support of its mission to localize the Sustainable Development Goals, the DAP-GSPDM also showcased its research outputs and knowledge products, including a compendium of research studies and informative materials on its academic programs.
On June 12, the DAP-GSPDM formally turned over these knowledge products during an exploratory meeting with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Del Carmen and the Local Government of Del Carmen. Mr. Shirwood M. Faigmane introduced the GSPDM’s diverse course offerings and programs, while Mr. Mark B. Dingle presented the research study, “Rethinking Future Scenarios for Philippine Tourism: Towards Resiliency and Sustainability in 2040 and Beyond,” authored by Dr. Monina Buccat. Vice Mayor Renato L. Dulguime, Rex Y. Paitan, and Ednon John E. Aparicio expressed strong interest in DAP-GSPDM’s research findings, particularly those related to nature-based solutions addressing environmental issues faced by Siargao Island.
