The Development Academy of the Philippines – Graduate School of Public and Development Management (DAP-GSPDM) kicked off its inaugural
Public Management Global Lecture Series on February 15, 2025, via Zoom, reinforcing its commitment to delivering globally competitive education through its Master in Public Management (MPM) program.

Prof. Masao Kikuchi of Meiji University, Tokyo, led the first lecture, titled “Local Governance and its Challenges in Japan: A Comparative Perspective.” The session provided a deep dive into Japan’s public policy and administration, offering valuable comparisons with the Philippines’ governance landscape. Prof. Kikuchi highlighted pressing challenges in local governance and underscored the critical need to adapt international policies to fit the Philippine context effectively.

The event, spearheaded by Dean Lizan E. Perante-Calina, facilitated a dynamic exchange of ideas between participants and the distinguished speaker, enriching the discussion on governance practices and promoting a deeper understanding of effective policy implementation.

The Public Management Global Lecture Series is part of DAP-GSPDM’s broader initiative to globalize the MPM program, bringing renowned international experts into the virtual classroom to integrate global perspectives into the institution’s academic offerings.
