The Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), through the Center for Governance-Local Governance and Development Office (CFG-LGDO), wrapped up the second run of the Course on Data-Driven Decision-Making for LGUs under the Adaptive Governance and Innovation for Local Executives (AGILE) program on August 5 -7, 2025.

Some 38 local government leaders and key functionaries from 13 LGUs honed their skills in harnessing local data, generating actionable insights, and integrating them into planning and program implementation. Resource persons included Deputy Privacy Commissioner Atty. Jose Arnelito S. Belarmino II of the National Privacy Commission, Chief Statistical Specialist Francisco P. Corpuz of the Philippine Statistics Authority – Bataan Provincial Statistics Office; Information and Technology Officer WIlson W. Censon of the Department of Information and Communications Region III, and Project Manager Nissa Mariel M. Caderao of the DAP Center for Strategic Futures.

 A highlight of the  course was a visit to The Bunker, Bataan’s Government Center and Business Hub, hosted by  Governor Jose Enrique S. Garcia III and Vice Governor Ma. Cristina M. Garcia. Participants saw firsthand the Provincial Government of Bataan’s  and the City Government of Balanga’s innovative data-driven initiatives such as the Bataeño Pass, Crime Information Reporting and Analysis System, Provincial Online Price Monitoring System, Green Mobility Program,  and Balanga City’s Electronic Business Permit and Licensing System.

The course concluded with a knowledge-sharing session among the participants, which underscored the vital role of effective data management in helping local governments understand their communities and develop evidence-based solutions. In her closing message, DAP Director Jannis T. Montañez emphasized that “statistics represent significant realities that require concrete action. When governed effectively, data unlocks new opportunities and enables smarter decision-making in local governments.”
