The 65th Workshop Meeting (WSM) of Heads of National Productivity Organizations (NPOs) concluded successfully on 25 October in Nadi, Fiji, bringing together 51 NPO leaders, advisers, and productivity experts from 19 APO member economies. This three-day event, hosted by the Government of Fiji, served as a vital platform for fostering productivity advancements and sustainable development across the Asia-Pacific region.

Representing the Philippines, the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) actively participated in the discussions through its President and CEO, Dr. Majah-Leah V. Ravago. As the designated National Productivity Organization (NPO) of the Philippines, DAP plays a key role in implementing public sector productivity programs in the region, supported by its designation as the APO Center of Excellence on Public Sector Productivity. The participation highlighted the Philippines’ commitment to promoting sustainable productivity practices and driving public sector efficiency.

A key highlight of the WSM was the launch of Green Productivity (GP) 2.0, presented by Professor Yoichiro Matsumoto, a member of Japan’s GP Advisory Council. This initiative aligns with global sustainability goals, including the UN SDGs and net-zero targets by 2050, aiming to extend its impact across various sectors through innovation and the circular economy.

The meeting also included reports from the APO Secretariat on the 2023 Annual Project Review and updates on the APO Vision 2025, setting the stage for future program plans. DAP’s engagement in these discussions emphasized its commitment to strengthening the region’s productivity agenda, fostering collaboration, and sharing best practices with fellow NPOs.

The WSM’s discussions reinforced the APO’s dedication to sustainable development, emphasizing the importance of mutual learning and cooperation among member economies. Through its role as the National Productivity Organization, DAP continues to support these efforts, helping shape a resilient and productive future for the Asia-Pacific region.
