The Development Academy of the Philippines’ Center for Governance-Operations Management Office conducted the Basic Project Management Course last April at the Virata Hall of the DAP Bldg in Pasig City, with some 42 participants from various line agencies attending the course designed to equip government program or project managers as well as technical staff with a comprehensive understanding of the concepts and approaches in project planning and management of development programs and projects.

Represented in the five-day training course were such national line agencies and government-controlled corporations as the Department of Agriculture (DA), DA-Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI), DA-Regional Office II (DA-RO2), Department of Agriculture-Biotechnology Program Office (DA-BPO), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), DILG-Regional Office II (DILG-RO2), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources ARMM (BFAR-ARMM), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources CAR (BFAR-CAR), Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS), Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB), Philippine Army-Performance Management Branch-Army Governance and Strategy Management Office (PMB-AGSMO), Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS), National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS), National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), and NEDA Regional Office I (NEDA-RO1).

Project management experts, monitoring and evaluation experts, and an economic development specialist composed the faculty that conducted the different course sessions.

Course participants were given the opportunity to apply their learnings when they presented their draft agency project proposals to a panel composed of DAP Managing Director Imelda Caluen of Training, DAP Managing Director Alan Cajes of the Sustainable Human Development Program (SHDP) and CfG, DAP Director Alvin Principe of the CfG-OMO, and DAP Director Maria Rosario Ablan of the AO25 Secretariat.
