Pasig CityThe Development Academy of the Philippines, through the Graduate School of Public and Development Management (DAP-GSPDM), held the latest session of its Dekalogo Governance Lecture Series on 30 April 2025 at the DAP Building, in celebration of National Food Month.

The session, themed “The Sustainable Table: Supporting Stakeholder Convergence in the Interconnected Web of Food Security, Nutrition, and Food Culture Development,” highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration in strengthening the country’s food systems.

DAP-GSPDM Dean Lizan E. Perante-Calina formally opened the event with a call for unified action to enhance food systems and advance sustainable governance.

The lecture featured Dr. Maria Julia Golloso-Gibat of the DOST-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI), who delivered a comprehensive presentation on the sustainability of the Philippine food system, with a focus on its resilience and existing nutritional gaps.

DAP-GSPDM Research Fellow Joel E. Abelinde also shared key findings on the Philippine food crisis during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly its impact on agricultural value chains and food access. Meanwhile, Jasmine Anne F. Tandingan of the National Nutrition Council discussed effective local nutrition governance practices and the vital role of Local Nutrition Focal Points (LNFPs) in LGUs.

The event underscored DAP-GSPDM’s commitment to fostering knowledge exchange and supporting policy development through collaboration.
