January 26, 2025 – The Development Academy of the Philippines participated in the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Fun Run on Sunday at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila. The event was organized by the Department of Budget and Management, in partnership with the Metro Manila Development Authority, in a bid to raise awareness on and generate support for the OGP activities, the proceeds of which will directly support the humanitarian efforts of the Philippine Red Cross. Select DAP officers and staff, led by President and CEO Majah-Leah Ravago, PhD, challenged the 3KM, 5KM, and 10KM run in support of the advocacy.
The OGP international initiative was launched in 2011, with the Philippines as one of its founding member countries, and aimed to promote transparent, participatory, inclusive, and accountable governance through collaborations between the government and civil society. The fun run precedes the OGP Regional Meeting of the Asia and the Pacific, set to be hosted by the Philippines on 5 to 7 February 2025. This conference will convene high-level government representatives, civil society leaders, and policymakers from various countries in Asia and the Pacific to discuss open government initiatives on key issues.
The event was attended by DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, MMDA Chairman Atty. Romando Artes, and Professional Regulation Commission Secretary General Dr. Gwendolyn Pang. Over 4,000 individuals from various government agencies and private sectors participated in the run.
