A delegation from the Province of Isabela headed by Vice Governor Faustino G. Dy III and is composed of provincial board members and the Sanggunian Secretariat trooped to the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) in Pasig City for the Certificate Course on Local Legislative Governance for Public Officials of the Province of Isabela last August 5-9.
The course, conducted by the DAP’s Graduate School of Public and Development Management (GSPDM), introduced the participants to public administration and local governance, public sector values, and policy-making at the provincial level. It likewise allowed the participants to gain appreciation of the role of the Sanggunian Secretariat as well as the rules and procedures of the Sanggunian.
The course faculty included esteemed professors of public administration and local government practitioners, namely, Dr. Lizan E. Perante-Calina, senior vice president and dean of DAP-GSPDM; Dr. Enrico L. Basilio, professor at the UP National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP-NCPAG); Michelle F. Alcid, Sanggunian secretary of the Province of Cavite; Dr. Alex B. Brillantes, Jr., former UP-NCPAG dean; and Atty. Alfredo R. Busico, former Iligan City councilor for 21 years and general legal counsel of the Philippine Councilors League.
The DAP-GSPDM shall also provide assistance to the Province of Isabela particularly in projects on the development of smart cities and capacity enhancement programs for public officials towards performance excellence in local governance. – CJ Almodal
