The Development Academy of the Philippines, through its Center for Governance (CFG), conducted the “Training for the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) on Good Governance and Phronetic Leadership” for the first of four batches of participants composed of 23 PPA department managers, chiefs, specialists, and engineers from Metro Manila.  The training was held at the PPA Multi-Purpose Hall, PPA Corporate Building, South Harbor, Port Area, Manila last June 17-21.

The training is in line with the PPA’s commitment to provide meaning and gainful empowerment for its personnel while creating for them a nurturing environment that promotes continuous learning and improvement. In particular, it aims to introduce the participants to the developments in governance and the value of phronetic leadership through discussions and workshops on basic principles of governance, perspectives in governance and leadership, practical wisdom, knowledge creation, and best practices of effective governance and leadership in the public sector.

The resource persons include the following: CFG Managing Director Imelda C. Caluen, Graduate School Dean Lizan P. Calina, and Ms. Rocio Isabel R. Paloma of the DAP; Ms. Luz Jordana S. Jose of the Governance Commission for GOCCs; Dr. Ederson D. Tapia of the University of Makati; Mr. Valeriano F. Mozo of the Civil Service Commission; Mr. Johnry A. Castillo of the Department of Budget and Management; Deputy Executive Director Eleazar E. Ricote of the Public-Private Partnership Center; Mr. Tomas P. Africa; and Atty. Dennis S. Santiago.

The training for the three succeeding batches, which will be attended by participants from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, will be conducted on July 15 to 19, July 29 to August 02, and September 02 to 06, respectively.
