The Development Academy of the Philippines’ Center for Governance conducted the “Seminar-Workshop on Developing Monitoring and Evaluation Tools for the National Reintegration Center for OFWs and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration” last September at the DAP Conference Center in Tagaytay City.

A total of 25 NRCO and OWWA officers and technical staff from the central and regional offices attended the course, which aimed to equip the participants with the necessary skills in monitoring and evaluation to help them harmonize their M&E system with related government initiatives, administrative guidelines, and medium- and long-term development plans while developing the tools and instruments they will utilize for progress and results in their existing programs.

Gilson Pido of the NRCO Central Office extended his thanks and appreciation to the DAP for conducting the course.  He pointed out that the seminar-workshop is a sequel to the “Training on Advanced Monitoring and Evaluation for DOLE-NRCO” held last August 31-September 2.  He added that it would be an opportunity to gather suggestions on possible revisions for existing guidelines and new programs on the reintegration of overseas Filipinos.

CFG Managing Director Imelda C. Caluen, meanwhile, congratulated the participants for successfully completing the five-day seminar-workshop in her closing remarks.  She expressed the hope that the course has further equipped the NRCO and OWWA personnel with the M&E skills they need in aligning their programs and in fostering sound decision making concerning the welfare of overseas Filipinos.

The resource persons of the course included Wilfredo M. de Perio of the National Economic and Development Authority, Jansen M. Mayor of Lutheran World Relief, Dr. Merlyne M. Paunlagi of the University of the Philippines-Los Baños, Jaime Duque-Daileg of the Senate of the Philippines, Abigail R. de la Cruz of the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services Project of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and Engels C. del Rosario of the DSWD’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.
