The Development Academy of the Philippines’ Center for Governance, through its Local Governance and Development Office, conducted a workshop on updating the local revenue code for 27 representatives of local government units (LGUs) last August 14-17 at the DAP Building in Pasig City.

The four-day live-out seminar-workshop provided the participants with a more strategic, holistic and systematic view of their revenue generation and resource mobilization function while guiding them on how to review and update their existing local revenue code.

Local finance expert Erlito R. Pardo and Bureau of Local Government Finance Director Jose Arnold M. Tan provided inputs on understanding good fiscal governance and its relevance to effective LGU revenue generation and resource mobilization, policy/program development and implementation, various traditional and non-traditional revenue generation and resource mobilization strategies available, and specific provisions in the LGU’s current local revenue code that require revisions or amendments.

The activity was attended by 27 participants from six LGUs, namely, the Province of Cagayan Valley, the cities of Parañaque, Taguig, Davao and Lapu-Lapu, and the Municipality of Calinog in Iloilo.
