Manila, Philippines – Ten public organizations and four private institutions were honored for their outstanding achievements in quality management at the 26th Philippine Quality Award (PQA) Conferment Ceremony held at the Malacañang Palace on July 17, 2024. Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin, on behalf of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., presided over the event, celebrating the organizations’ exceptional contributions to excellence.

The Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry’s Bureau of Competitiveness and Development (DTI-BCD), the PQA Award Manager, and the Philippine Society for Quality (PSQ), the Award Administrator for the Private Sector, recognized the awardees across three levels of quality management excellence:

Mastery in Quality Management (Level 3): This top-tier recognition is given to organizations demonstrating superior results through advanced management systems and practices, setting them as national role models. The 2024 awardees are:

  • Cavite State University
  • Securities and Exchange Commission
  • University of Southeastern Philippines
  • Makati Development Corporation
  • Southville International School and Colleges

Proficiency in Quality Management (Level 2): This level honors organizations that have made significant progress in quality and productivity management. The 2024 awardees are:

  • Central Bicol State University of Agriculture
  • Department of Science and Technology – Central Office
  • Ifugao State University
  • Philippine Normal University – Manila Campus
  • Balibago Waterworks System, Inc.
  • University of Perpetual Help System Dalta

Commitment to Quality Management (Level 1): This recognition is awarded to organizations that have demonstrated a serious commitment to improving quality and productivity. The 2024 awardees are:

  • Aurora State College of Technology
  • Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology
  • University of the Philippines-School of Urban and Regional Planning

In his keynote address, Secretary Bersamin praised the awardees for their unwavering dedication to excellence, highlighting the PQA’s crucial role in promoting continuous improvement and enhancing the competitive edge of Filipino organizations. He called for greater participation from the private sector and reaffirmed the Marcos Jr. Administration’s commitment to initiatives that align with the principles of “Bagong Pilipinas.”

The PQA, established under Republic Act No. 9013, is the highest level of recognition for organizational performance in the Philippines. It aims to elevate national performance to global standards by providing a comprehensive framework for assessment and encouraging continuous quality and productivity improvements. The award serves as a benchmark for both public and private sector organizations.

As the Award Administrator for the Public Sector, DAP oversees the invitation and eligibility review of applicant organizations, manages the assessment process, and ensures the timely completion of feedback reports. DAP also actively participates in various PQA activities, including the Awarding Ceremony, PQA Improvement Day, and Winners’ Forum.
