March 7, 2023 –The Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) and the Mindanao State University-Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU-TCTO) signed a partnership agreement for capacity building and co-development. Under the agreement, both institutions ensure that inclusive growth and transformation shall serve as the driving force behind this cooperation and provide an avenue for development opportunities appropriate for the University and the community at large. The partnership also paved the way for the establishment of DAP’s first-ever field office at the MSU Campus in Tawi-Tawi.

Meanwhile, discussions on strategies focusing on research, capacity building, and technical assistance between the DAP and MSU-TCTO are underway. Among these initiatives include dialogues on the Blue Economy Governance Framework, putting premium on Tawi-Tawi’s geographic location at the heart of the Coral Triangle and MSU’s core function to utilize and preserve the marine resources in the area.

Dr. Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali, Vice Chancellor Freddy A. Julkanain, MPA, and Director Jaida A. Alsharif served as signatories of the MSU-TCTO, while DAP President Atty. Engelbert Caronan, Jr. is represented by Acting Senior Vice President for Services Ms. Monina De Armas and Vice President and Senior Fellow Dr. Alan Cajes.

For the next five years, DAP and MSU-TCTO will jointly push forward its goals to strengthen institutions, shape communities, and build the country!
